Task-RM: A Resource Manager for Energy Reduction in Task-Parallel Applications under Quality of Service Constraints

Improving energy efficiency is an important goal of computer system design. This article focuses on a general model task-parallel applications under quality-of-service requirements the completion time. Our technique, called Task-RM , exploits variance in task execution-times and imbalance between tasks to allocate just enough resources terms voltage-frequency core-allocation so that application completes before deadline. Moreover, we provide solution can harness additional savings with availability processors. We observe that, for proposed run-time resource manager resources, it requires specification soft deadlines tasks. accomplished by analyzing energy-saving scenarios offline providing performance The evaluation shows saving 33% compared race-to-idle 22% dynamic slack allocation (DSA) overhead less than 1%.
